1. Your agreement with Certiio
These terms govern your use of the Certiio service provided by Certiio, an independently operated project based in California, United States ("Certiio," "we," "us"). By accepting these terms when creating an account or otherwise agreeing to use the service, you agree to them. If you use Certiio for an organization, you must have authority to act for it. A separate written agreement with us controls to the extent it conflicts with these terms.
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter this agreement. Contact support@certiio.com if you have questions. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.
2. Accounts and access
Provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in credentials, and use only accounts and workspaces you are authorized to access. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. Employer administrators are responsible for managing their team's access and permissions.
3. What the service provides
Certiio provides tools for applications, hiring pipelines, work-based assessments, and related reports. Features can include code execution, uploaded work, diagrams, recorded explanations, automated evaluation, and integrity checks disclosed for the assessment.
Certiio does not guarantee an interview, job, placement, particular score, or hiring outcome. Employers determine their own hiring criteria and make hiring decisions. An assessment score, automated flag, or recommendation is information for review and is not a guarantee about a person.
4. Candidate responsibilities
- Submit information and work you are entitled to provide, and represent your experience and contribution honestly.
- Follow the instructions, permitted-tool rules, deadlines, and integrity policy presented for each assessment. Do not impersonate another person, submit another person's work as your own, or use prohibited assistance.
- Do not upload passwords, production credentials, trade secrets, or another person's private information unless you have a legitimate need and permission to do so.
- Contact the hiring organization before beginning if you need an accommodation or an alternative to a required assessment method. Contact us about technical problems promptly.
5. Employer responsibilities
Employers are responsible for lawful job postings, job-related assessment criteria, candidate communications, appropriate notices and permissions, accommodations, and compliance with employment, discrimination, privacy, and applicable automated-decision rules. Only request information needed for a legitimate hiring purpose and limit access to authorized reviewers.
Review evidence and automated outputs before relying on them. AI-generated notes and integrity signals can be wrong or lack context; do not treat them as conclusive proof of misconduct or as a substitute for an appropriate hiring review. You remain responsible for decisions and communications affecting candidates.
6. Your work and our technology
You retain the rights you have in the materials you submit. You grant Certiio a non-exclusive permission to host, store, copy, process, and transmit those materials as needed to provide the service you request, including executing code, transcribing recordings, evaluating assessments, and presenting work and reports to the relevant hiring organization. This permission does not transfer ownership of your work to Certiio.
You must have the rights and permissions needed for that processing. The permission lasts while the material is lawfully retained to provide the service or meet the purposes described in our Privacy Policy. Separate agreements between candidates and employers may apply to their use of work.
Certiio and its licensors retain rights in the platform, branding, software, and assessment materials they provide. You receive permission to use them through the service for their intended purpose, subject to these terms. Do not redistribute confidential assessment questions or hidden evaluation materials without permission.
7. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Use the service unlawfully, discriminate unlawfully, harass others, or infringe their rights.
- Bypass access controls, tamper with scores or assessment evidence, or attempt to access another organization's or candidate's information.
- Upload malware, steal credentials, attack service infrastructure, or use assessment execution environments for unrelated workloads.
- Disrupt the service, evade usage limits, or scrape private information without authorization.
We may investigate misuse and limit access when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, or legal compliance. Report security concerns privately to support@certiio.com.
8. Third-party services and paid features
Sign-in providers and other third-party services may have their own terms. You are responsible for complying with terms that apply to your direct use of those services. If you purchase a paid Certiio service, the price, billing period, and any additional payment or cancellation terms presented at purchase or in your written order apply. These terms alone do not enroll you in a paid subscription.
9. Availability and limitations
We work to keep Certiio useful and reliable, but outages, interrupted recordings, lost connectivity, and incomplete evaluations can occur. Keep copies of original files where practical and report problems that affect an assessment. We may change features, with notice where required by law or an applicable service agreement.
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided as available without a guarantee of uninterrupted operation, error-free output, or fitness for a particular hiring outcome. Nothing in these terms excludes mandatory consumer rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Ending use and account restrictions
You may stop using Certiio and contact support@certiio.com to request account closure. Employers may remove access to their workspaces. We may suspend or terminate access for a material breach of these terms, unlawful use, or a security threat, providing notice when reasonable and lawful.
Closing an account does not automatically erase an employer's hiring records or records we must lawfully retain. Information is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Provisions necessary to resolve existing obligations and protect retained rights continue to apply after use ends.
11. Changes, questions, and disputes
We may update these terms and will show the effective date. For material changes, we will provide notice and obtain agreement where required. Changes do not retroactively alter rights or obligations already accrued.
Please contact support@certiio.com first so we can try to resolve a question or dispute. These terms do not waive rights or remedies you have under applicable law. If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
